Trekking to the peak of the active volcano, Mt. Agung, Bali’s holiest and tallest mountain (3142 meters) takes four to five hours (eight – ten hours for the return journey). It is a somewhat difficult trek and requires a good level of fitness and some bravado, but is an extremely worthwhile and amazing spiritual experience.

Departing at 1 – 2 a.m. (head torches and wet weather gear supplied, if needed) after making an offering and prayer at the holy Pasar Agung temple, the highest in Bali, we begin the ascent of this impressive volcano to arrive in time to witness the most remarkable sunrise you will see in Bali and to enjoy the spectacular morning views of the neighboring islands of Lombok, Nusa Penida and the whole south and east of Bali. Trekking first through jungle (where you can see wildlife on the return journey) we pass the tree line and trek up the lava flows of the 1963 eruption enjoying the spectacular night views of Bali (the lights are amazing). After sunrise and making an offering and prayer on the summit of this holy mountain we enjoy a well deserved breakfast before beginning our descent.

We serve the finest breakfast available and ample water is supplied during the trek.

At certain times of the month and on auspicious days it is not possible to trek to the summit of Mt. Agung. It is advisable to check as early as possible to ascertain whether it is possible to climb. It is not recommended that anyone tries this climb during the wet season.

Join us for a sunrise trek to the summit of Mt.Batur (1717 meters) and experience the awesome beauty of an active volcano. Trekking in the cool, early morning darkness (torches, hiking sticks and wet weather gear supplied, if needed), we begin the one to two hour ascent (not difficult) to arrive in time to witness a glorious sunrise and experience the stunning morning views of the surrounding crater and lake.

Unlike other tour companies, we trek around the whole rim of the volcano climbing to it’s summit, witnessing the large troop of monkeys exit the largest crater, pass by steam fissures (where we cook our eggs for breakfast) and follow the rim to explore the second and third craters and the most recent lava flows. This is one of the highlights of the trip and we can assure that you won’t miss this experience, as our own experienced English speaking guide accompanies you as well as the compulsory local guide on the trek to ensure it happens (unlike other trekking companies who only use the compulsory local guide).

Of course, by supplying our own guide we can cater to guests who may not be as fit or as quick to climb the volcano as our other guests. If extra stops are needed one of the two guides will accompany you to the summit and not delay our other guests who can climb with the other guide. Not that this is a difficult climb at all.

Our breakfast is the finest available: juice, fruit, eggs, bread, jam and tea/coffee and it is included in the price (so you won’t be paying exorbitant prices for food on top of the mountain – another advantage of having our guide accompany you).We also supply snacks to keep your energy levels up and of course, ample drinking water is available.

Rinjani Trekking Via Senaru : West Gate to Mount Rinjani National Park

The village of Senaru, an easy 2.5 hours drive from Mataram or Senggigi, is the main access to the National Park. As a non-trekking destination it is also popular – a cool, flower-filled mountain village stretching along a hillside spur above Bayan. Senaru has a range of accommodation in simple home stays (losmen), and a number of cafes serving delicious local specialties. The Rinjani Trek Centre at the trailhead offers displays, ecotourism activities, and visitor information. Village guides, including several local women, escort visits to the adjacent traditional village, three waterfalls, and a number of Village Walks. Circuits include the one hour Rice Terraces and Waterfall Walk, or discover the highlights of Senaru in a lovely half-day Senaru Panorama Walk.

The cool, flower-filled mountain village of Senaru on the slopes of Mt. Rinjani stretches up a hillside spur along a winding road above Bayan. It is a scenic 2.5 hours drive from Mataram or Senggigi to Senaru. The Desa includes the hamlets of Senaru, Batu Koq and Tumpang Sari, and all offer accommodation in simple but pretty homestays (losmen) with lovely views.

The Rinjani Trek Centre is located at the top of the village at the trailhead. Senaru Traditional Village

The Sasak inhabitants are the cultural guardians of Mount Rinjani and its surrounding forest and safeguard its spiritual values. Locally guided visits include opportunities to experience the villagers’ daily life, visit their thatched houses, prepare meals using local produce, and understand their traditional way of life.

Morning waterway walk and sunrise
Leave your losmen early for a one and a half hour escorted walk through the fields, past traditional villages and along the irrigation channel that winds through village fields past crops and houses. The Concepts of the Rinjani Trek Management Board
The Rinjani Trek is managed by a unique partnership of National Park, tourism industry and the local community. Activities focus in the Community – run cooperatives at Rinjani Trek Centre ( RTC ) in Senaru and the Rinjani Information Centre ( RIC ) in Sembalun Lawang. Under the guidance of the Rinjani Trek Management Board ( RTMB ), each are run by a stakeholders’ committee who look after roster systems for guides and porters, village tours, trek trail maintenance, and handicraft sales. Revenue from tourism activities and entry fees is used for conservation, training and management of the Rinjani Trek, thus ensuring sustainability.

Conceptually, the project started with three stakeholder circles labeled “Park Management”, “Community Development” and “Tourism”. Whit Project assistance, the Park set out to engage with the stakeholder groups in each of the circles, independently at first and then, as the groups got used to deal with each other, increasingly together. This approach recognized that it takes time for the multi-skilled “cross-over” people that ecotourism requires (people who can operate in between the circles) to emerge.

Rinjani Package via Benang Stokel Trails 04 Days 03 Nights Rim Only

TOUR DESCRIPTION
Benang Stokel in the village of Aik Berik in Central Lombok is about 27km east of Mataram, a little less than an hour’s drive. Locally Benang Stokel is well-known for its 2 waterfalls, the Benang Kelambu waterfall and the likewise named Benang Stokel waterfall from which the trekking up to Rinjani starts.

The waterfall and starting point for this track can be reached in about 30 minutes by jeep. Trekking through dense forest, the ascent up to the crater rim takes around 6 hours. From here, the descent to the crater lake is about 3 hours. This track offers lots of variety, with the famed Tiara Dewi Anjani waterfall as one of its highlights, and with some luck one might encounter a herd of deer.

This track is especially favored by those looking for a completely different angle of approach to Rinjani. For centuries this route has been used by hunters and fishermen looking for their prey in the dense forest and crater lake.

This track offers no opportunities for a climb up to the summit of Rinjani, except if you plan to bring along a rubber boat to paddle across the crater lake to the Sembalun side of the lake. Should one wish to do so our team can accommodate one.

Trek itinerary:
Day 1, Senggigi-Sembalun-Sembalun Rim
Our guide will pick you up at hotel lobby at 06.00 AM then transfer to Sembalun. Register the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) in Sembalun Lawang (1,156 m), meet your guide and arrange National Park entry tickets. Your guide gives you briefing describes the route details, local cultural traditions and what you might see, and explains rubbish management and safety procedures. The trek starts from Sembalun Lawang with the gentle ascent walking through open grassland used as cattle grazing by local people. Resting at Pos 1 Pemantauan (1,300), after about three hours from Sembalun we reach Pos 2 Tengengean (1,500 m) enjoying the beautiful views of Mt. Rinjani summit (3,726 m). After another hours ascent to Pos 3 Pada Balong (1,800 m), we start the step 3,5 climb amidst the pine-like Casuarinas species locally known as Cemara, perhaps seeing evidence of wild pigs and the long-tailed grey macaque monkeys to the camp site at Plawangan II Sembalun crater rim (2,639 m). Day 2, Sembalun Rim-Summit-Lake
At 03:00 AM starts is necessary for the hard three-hours climb to the summit (3,726 m) on volcanic screen. Once there, enjoy proud feelings of satisfaction and the amazing sunrise views across the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt. Agung and Sumbawa, after breakfast down to the lake Segara Anak (2,000 m) within the Rinjani crater. Mt. Baru is an island in the lake and an active volcano, last erupting dramatically in 1994. Return down the ridge passing numerous edelweiss plants Bunga Abadi to the crater rim camp for a well-deserved breakfast. It takes two to three hours down the steep trail to the crater lake and day 2’s camp. The rest of the day is spent relaxing, swimming in the lake and exploring the caves and pilgrimage hot springs, believed to have healing powers. ( B.L.D )

Day 3, Lake-Mount Barujari “New Volcano ” Explore
After breakfast, with our rubber boat provided, you and your guide will paddle cross the lake to Mount Barujari ” New Mountain “. Upon arrive on the mountain foot directly trek to the summit of Mount Barujari and enjoy the lava of the volcano with spectacular view of Mount Barujari and surrounding. Trek down to your rubber boat and paddle back to the Campsite. around 03 Pm walk up to Senaru Rim and overnight( B.L.D )

Day 4, Crater Rim Senaru-Senaru
After breakfast, leave the lake and climb for two and half hours up to Plawangan 1 senaru Crater Rim (2,461 m). After lunch enjoy the views of the lake from the other side, relax, explore and await the sunset. Day 01, Senggigi-Sembalun-Sembalun Rim.
After a good breakfast at Senggigi we will drive you to Sembalun (2.5 hour) where you will starts your trek. The path starts through fields where you can look up awe at the majestic summit of Gunung Rinjani. From the foothills of the mountain you will slowly start to climb up to Base Camp III where the porters will look a tasty lunch. from here you will climb one steeply through scenery that varies from barren grassland to woodland. The next stop is the campsite at the crater Rim, where you will be cooked a hearty Dinner that will give you the energy needed for the climb to the Summit the next morning after a good night sleep.

Day 02, Sembalun Rim-Rinjani Summit-Segara Anak Lake-Hotspring
At 02.30 Am, You will be woken up with a hot drink and a light breakfast. We starts the climb to the Peak at 03.00 Am in time to see the spectacular sunrise at the Summit. The path starts through fields where you can look up awe at the majestic summit of Gunung Rinjani. From the foothills of the mountain you will slowly start to climb up to Base Camp III where the porters will look a tasty lunch. from here you will climb one steeply through scenery that varies from barren grassland to woodland. The next stop is the campsite at the crater Rim, where you will be cooked a hearty Dinner that will give you the energy needed for the climb to the Summit the next morning after a good night sleep.

Day 02, Summit-Lake-Senaru Rim.
At 02.30 Am, You will be woken up with a hot drink and a light breakfast. We starts the climb to the Peak at 03.00 Am in time to see the spectacular sunrise at the Summit. The effort is well worth it when you can see Java on one side and over to bali on the other side. On the way down you can see pause to look at the Magnificent lake and volcanic cone. After breakfast you will descent for three hours to the Crater Lake and also visit the refreshing Hot Spring and Waterfall.

You will climb back up to the other side of the Rim after a short walk around part of the Lake. Continue to climb up to Senaru Rim, From this side of the Rim you can see more awe inspiring views of the crater Rim. Summit and lake. Overnight.

Day 03, Senaru Rim-Senaru Village-Senggigi
Wake by the Spectacular view of the Sun rise, Enjoy the view before heading to Base Camp III and heading for your final meal – a well needed lunch. The last part of our journey passes through tropical rain forest for around 03 hours until you reach the road back to Senaru. Then it’s time for a cold Beer at Rinjani Trekking Club Restaurant and congratulate your self for amazing achievement!
Transfer back to your hotel in Senggigi.
